What were your first impressions of Korea?

Rinet Isajyan :
When thinking about impression of Korea first thing that comes into my mind is people. I could tell that they are not only respectful towards one other, even in crowded places being extremely mindful of others privacy, but also towards the environment by keeping their county and city impeccably clean and pristine.

Michelle Zannetti :
I was taken back by the cleanliness of such a large metropolitan area. The Shilla Stay was lovely and the area reminded me of Las Vegas with all of the high-rise buildings and digital billboards. Every single person I came in contact with was warm, kind and polite.

Differences between the US and Korean healthcare system?

Rinet Isajyan :
Based on my observation and conversations with our colleagues it was obvious that Korean healthcare system is designed by being a patient centric. I was very much impressed by how efficient and mindful everything was planned; short wait times for provider visits, all necessary diagnostic centers and specialties in one facility, same day appointment availability and easy access to the needed care.

Glenda Chajon :
Korea’s health care system is aimed at preventing health problems. One can get all health care needs taken care of in one place. That is amazing.

Michelle Zannetti :
Since we were only observers touring buildings, I could not really appreciate the difference in the delivery of one-on-one care. However, the approach to access to care is more streamlined by providing kiosks to have people sign in for care. There was not an obvious security presence like there is here in the US. As far as care itself, there seemed to be a strong lean towards combining western and Eastern medicine methods with a push towards wellness not just disease treatment.

What were you most impressed with during the tour?

Rinet Isajyan :
I was extremely impressed by CHA Health System facilities, level of service being provided, advanced technologies, and above all how everything was designed around patient’s convenience and needs.

Glenda Chajon :
The way they catered to the patients’ overall health. You can be seen at the doctor’s office and get all your preventative health care done all in one place. It is warm and inviting.

Michelle Zannetti :
Each Cha hospital had a signature style, but kept with the uniformity at each facility. I was hugely impressed with Chaum and would love to have access to a Chaum US!

What is your one favorite things that you saw in the CHA Health System Hospitals?

Rinet Isajyan :
As mentioned above I appreciated the fact that in CHA Health System Hospitals everything was designed around patient’s convenience and needs.

Glenda Chajon :
It is very important for them to make you feel comfortable about taking care of your health. It’s a beautiful facility and all inclusive. I loved how quiet it is there, serenity. You want to take care of your health.

Michelle Zannetti :
I loved the emphasis towards soothing color schemes and comfortable furniture. And that there were restaurants and shopping available under the same roof. My absolute favorite area was the atrium with flowers/plants and music and comfy seating.

What information are you going to take back to your colleagues at CHA HPMC?

Glenda Chajon :
That we should take care of our patients like family. We need to welcome them and make them feel comfortable seeking care at our facilities. That we need to create a quiet environment.

Michelle Zannetti :
That we are part of a huge, prosperous and amazing health organization that not only provides high level care and treatment, but also is a cutting edge educational system.

Glenda and Michelle, (For the person who has been in HPMC for longest time) What’s your key to work for the longest time in HPMC?

Glenda Chajon :
I have been at HPMC for 16 years. I started as a new grad. I love working here, because our patient’s are truly the best. They are always thankful for the care they receive. It is a good working environment.

Michelle Zannetti :
Truly, the reason I stay are the people I have worked with over these years. I continue to look forward to the completion of our new building.

How was Chaum Life Center?

Rinet Isajyan :
I was very impressed by this center and the services provided. They managed to create a peaceful and welcoming environment for patients to at ease when addressing their health concerns.

Michelle Zannetti :
I would love to be part of something like Chaum here in the US. I would gladly switch from working ED to being a provider of care at Chaum.

Post-partum care center is something that you don’t have in the U.S. How did you feel about this facility in CHA Ilsan Medical Center?

Rinet Isajyan :
It was thrilling to see the level of respect that’s given to women in Korean culture. The post-partum care center is a prime example of how imperative women’s health and care is. The service provided at Ilsan Medical Center amazed me with its cost efficiency for patients to receive top notch medical care.

Glenda Chajon :
It is amazing that a woman gets all the help she needs as a new mother. Being a mother is one of the most important and scary times in our lives. Having the right start is extremely important.

Michelle Zannetti :
Having been born into our current health system with its short stays for post partum, I am not sure how I feel. On one hand I think having a longer recovery makes sense and on the other I am not sure how such a long convalescence would fit with US culture.

What do you think about the Korean Emergency Rooms?

Rinet Isajyan :
I think that health care is being offered in the best way possible. I feel that because of all the preventative care available the emergency room is not as crowded.

Michelle Zannetti :
After being taken through colorful, comfortable and new-looking facilities, I was starting to feel sad about our very beige ED-I cannot tell you how happy I was to see that the EDs were just as beige in Korea! Not in a bad way, but just the same!

CHA Fertility Center has recognition for its high success rate which represents CHA. What were your impressions about the CHA Fertility Center?

Rinet Isajyan :
It is awesome that partners can plan for the future. Having a family is the most rewarding thing. The work that is being done is amazing.

Michelle Zannetti :
I was impressed with how much work they do: from consultation to egg harvest and storage to the actual work of pregnancy wellness, woman’s health and delivery. I don’t know of a more a comprehensive program.

Rinet Isajyan :
I am grateful for the opportunity to visit Korea, have better understanding of CHA facilitates and Korean health care system, and of course above all Korean culture and people. I was impressed by Korean hospitality and warmness of welcoming us. During both dinners Dr. Cha made us feel not only welcomed but valued as employees and created more cohesive and family-oriented environment for everyone.

Michelle Zannetti :
I was blown away! The beauty of the grounds, the food, entertainment and company. That was the pinnacle of a wonderful week that exceeded my expectations.

How was the food and cultural experiences in Korea? Did you like the restaurants and other events organized by us?

Rinet Isajyan :
I absolutely loved the food and the culture in Korea. You guys did an amazing job. This was an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend it. It made me feel that I gained more family members. I would love the opportunity to visit the other facilities. My CHA family members.

Michelle Zannetti :
Absolutely well thought out culinary experience! In the US, you would be called a “foodie” (lovingly, of course!).
